Have you ever thought, “There must be more to life than this?” Or, have you searched for satisfaction and fulfillment only to come up empty?
The reason for this is that true fulfillment in life only comes from a relationship with Jesus, who in John 10:10 said,
“I have come so that you may have life and have it in abundance.”
This abundant life has purpose and meaning now and security in the future. The Apostle Paul said,
“For to me living is Christ and dying is gain.”
-Philippians 1:21
Paul knew that the only way to have satisfaction in life and security in death was to find it in Jesus by trusting Him and living a life according to His plan.
You may be wondering, “How may I have this abundant life?” The answer is first, admit the fact that your life is anything but abundant right now. All human beings are born in desperate need because we are all born with a problem that we cannot solve. The Bible calls this problem "sin." Romans 3:23 says,
“All have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”
What can be done with this problem that none of us can solve? The good news is, we don’t have to do anything about it. Jesus has provided the solution for us. Romans 6:23 says,
“The wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
And the reason that we can have “eternal life in or by Christ” is because He died for our sins and paid the penalty for us. First Corinthians 15:3 tells us,
“Christ died for our sins.”
It is true that Jesus died on the cross to pay for the sins of the world, but there are many who do not believe this. In order for you to have forgiveness of your sins and experience abundant life, you must believe that Jesus died for your sins and that He rose from the dead. (I Corinthians 15:1-8).
Would you take some time today to consider following through on these words from Scripture?
“If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. One believes with the heart, resulting in righteousness, and one confesses with the mouth, resulting in salvation.”
-Romans 10:9-10
